Behavioral and Educational Consulting
About
At MOSAIC Center for Therapy Services we offer a variety of behavioral and educational consulting services tailored to meet the needs of children with special needs. Our goal is to work with children, families and/or school staff to increase the child's ability to function successfully in the home, community, and/or classroom setting.
Services that the consultants offer include:
Consulting and educational services are initiated with an assessment. When providing direct intervention to a child or supervising a home program it is important to complete a thorough assessment, with family input, in order to evaluate the children's strength and areas of need. These assessments aid in developing intervention plans and educational programs.
Once the assessments are complete, the consultant meets with the family to review results and develop an intervention plan. Parents are integral partners in this process and collaboration is key to developing an intervention plan that is both functional and useful to the child and their family. Programs are developed for each child based on the results of the assessments, their skill level, and family input.
Following the assessment the consultants offer intervention strategies. These intervention strategies are evidence-based practices, documented to be effective in research journals. These may include the use of discrete trials, naturalistic language strategies, use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), explicit reinforcement procedures (e.g., token systems, behavioral contracts), social stories, peer-mediated strategies and/or visual supports.
These services help children build effective relationships with their families, give guidance to school staff to create developmentally appropriate environments, and increase a child's ability to function successfully and adaptively at home, in the community, and at school.
